The number of Americans taking a road trip holiday over the July 4 holiday weekend is expected to jump 17.1 percent from last year, according to AAA’s annual report.
Approximately 34.9 million Americans are projected to take a trip at least 50 miles away from home between July 1 and July 5, compared to 29.8 million travelers in the same period last year.
The report finds that it has seen an increase in both driving vacations and bookings for cruises, vacation packages and hotels through AAA travel. More Americans are taking advantage of the good weather and great travel deals.
Also, according to the AAA report, 90% of travel will be done by car this year. It’s a great time to visit parks and campgrounds but be prepared for crowds. Reserve camp spaces. The more popular camps fill up months in advance.
Keep care of yourself on the road too. Make sure that you avoid Travelers Thrombosis and calm freeway frustration by practicing a little Drivetime Yoga on the way. Stretching your lower back and rotating your hips; doing thigh squeezes and practicing conscious breathing will help you arrive ready to play. Don’t let your back take the brunt of the drive by stopping often, getting out of the car every hour or so to walk and stretch.
These tips will help you have a road trip holiday you want to remember and not work to forget.
For more driving stretches, here’s an article about Road Trip Yoga and remember it’s not always about the destination, the juice is in the journey.
